Yesterday was a good day. Jesse and I drove up to the windy city for a day away from here. Went to the Art Museum… gosh I love modern art. Every time I see a Jackson Pollack, I am just amazed by his work. So Jesse was introduced to the wide world of Art yesterday. He really liked Seurat’s Sunday Afternoon on the Island of la Grande Jatte pontilism piece… It is amazing to see it up close. After that we walked over to the Sears Tower and took a trip up that incredibly fast elevator (1,600 ft/minute). The skydeck is on the 103rd floor. I was just thinking while I was up there, looking down, at the sheer distance of a fall that would be. That building is so huge, and imagining it collapsing into the very small streets is just staggering. So to have two buildings do that at the same time in NY… wow…
After we left, we stumbled upon an anti-war with Iraq rally staged by some very vocal gay/lesbian activitists. The entire area was ringed with Chicago PD. It was interesting to say the least. After that we walked the Magnificent Mile Michigan Avenue. Stopped at all the cool stores… I felt like such a yuppie again 🙂 There is just something about walking around a big city…so much energy. The street performers were out in full force. One guy painted himself silver and was trying to do Michael Jackson’s thriller in front of Needless Markup. He wasn’t very good. These 4 kids were banging on drywall buckets and they were just amazing… Then there was this guy playing the sax on this street with some really close tall buildings and the sounds was awesome. It just resonated and echoed down the street. It really was beautiful.
We headed over to Schaumburg for the greatest store in the world Ikea. After spending about an hour there, we went over to Woodfield to find Jesse some shoes. After that long search, we ate at Rainforest cafe and then headed home. It was a really long day, and when I got home at 1, I ended up talking with Jeremy and Becky until 4am… I am so tired right now…
