I had the joy and privilege of doing a spot of remodeling whilst Bob was on holiday last week. He was quite surprised to come back to leather furniture, iron and slate tables and a wall of deep crimson flanked by warm tans. On the crimson wall I designed a typographic treatment of the Voice Vision Statement. Armed with my laptop, an LCD projector and a silver pencil, I stood and traced the lettering. It took me a few hours of tracing but it came out splendidly. Next week the painting on the wall will begin – in a rich antique gold.
The opportunity to transform a room is always such fun for me. It’s a ton of work but I love seeing the end result and watching the jaw drop when they walk in and view the room. Doing one with a painting on the wall is a new one for me, but I am also excited to see how it turns out. I was thinking of doing something like this in the lobby now. Dave Carey and I have talked many times of doing some type treatments on walls, so this is my second attempt. The first was when I did vinyl lettering around the top of the Publications office at Grace College & Seminary. Vinyl is cool because it is so precise and hard edge, but it is also expensive. So we’ll see how the painting comes out.
Looks nice! Where is this room again?
It looks great.
