Welting is a Word, Mike.

Posted on Sunday 16 September 2007 by Joshua

Last week flew by in a blur of activity. Despite the many changes, one thing that has not changed is the amount of things that need to be done. In the past week: 5 trees were removed from the property – big ones too!, carpet was torn out in the main office, replaced said carpet with Congoleum flooring, repainted said office as lavendar walls no longer matched previously mentioned new flooring, reorganized said office to provide better workflow and efficiency, drove to Winona to remove over a hundred plants (hostas, lillies etc.) from front lawn of Dana’s house – got enough to fill truck and big trailer, planted said plants at the Camp, painted upstairs offices, got grounds ready for a wedding, power washed, cleaned gutters, and mowed lawns. What a list. Anyway, it is good to have been able to hire a third member of the Operations Team – Mr. Cameron Blank. I have to say that it’s so nice to be able to order them around while sitting at my desk with a cup of Starbucks playing solitaire.

Actually, what I do in my office is look up words for my sister. Sara called the other day to have me solve a dispute. She and Mike were working and she said, “I need to put some rubber welting around the door.” Mike did not believe it was a word, or if it actually was, it was being improperly used. Naturally, I jumped online and according to dictionary.com, welting is a trim – the rubber trim around the bumper, or around the edge of the car door. It is also the cording around a cushion. So, Sara won that $5 bet. I can’t say I have ever used that word before. You learn something new every day.

Josh, my friend… you need a holiday, a very long holiday.

“…And I don’t excpect I shall return. In fact, I mean not to.”
    — Bilbo Baggins. (I just had to finish the quote there.)

So, with all the changes in the office, grounds and such, can we see some photos? I am especially curious how the old office looks. I still have some personal attachments to that place as you can imagine…

Also, what happened to the trees? Were they mature trees or dead trees? Just curious. I know about the one that fell the day we left, but I’m wondering about the others.
