**Thursday Edit**
This morning, yet another little one came into the world. This time a fillie. She’s pretty – more shy than Jabez (born Tuesday), but doing very well. She had no problems finding milk, and was already trotting around, following her mom. Every single time I get to see a new baby, I am just so amazed. It is such a miracle. Life is a miracle. I can never ever take it for granted because of the wonder of it all. What a week! Two new lives introduced into the Indiana fields. This one will get named by Conan & Amy’s daughter, Jordan, who loves horses.
This morning, roundabout 5am, this little guy came into the world. He doesn’t have a name yet, but he is a friendly little colt. His mom is Salvation and his dad is Justice. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to watch these animals grow – it is so awesome to see them take their first shaky steps and then see them dashing across the fields in such a short time. And they grow up so fast – the other day I saw one of the 2 yr olds and she was so big – almost as big as her mom. Imagine if human kids grew that fast! They’d come out of the womb and wobble across the maternity ward. 15 minutes later they’d be running. Yikes. Isn’t it wild how we are so different than animals. Anyway, I digress.
Here are a couple pics from this afternoon. Little Colt was following me around – bumping me with his nose so much while I was taking his pictures that I had Robert take the camera so that Colt and I could properly bond. It’s not often that you get kissed by a newborn horse, but hey, it’s definitely worth the experience. Collette says it has something to do with imprinting, and I wouldn’t want to mess that up, so hopefully he will always have me in mind when I someday ride him and never ever throw me off into the gravel road. After all, I was the one who kissed him on the day he was born. That should make me his godfather, right?
Oh, and by the way, in case those of you reading this did not realize a fancy new feature on this site, click on the little photos in my posts to see larger versions. Pretty cool, eh? (“Eh”=”right” for those who do not understand Canada-speak.)
This is. Amazing. Where would I be without your blog, Joshua? A sad panda, indeed.
Sorry, I didn’t catch the name of the first one? Is there a name yet?
Jabez is the colt born on Tuesday. I am still not sure what Jordan decided for the fillie.
hey buddy, i thought the first little guy was from Tenney?
No?
Mert – nope the first guy was from Salvation, the girl was from Tenney.
