Friday night – went to a friend’s barbarakah (kinda like a bar mitzvah). This ceremony is a celebration of a son’s transition into manhood. It started with worship and then we got to see a little show of Josh’s life, then his dad read encouraging words about the various things he will face in life, and showed video clips that brought the points home. At the end of the ceremony, men of importance and significance in his life all prayed blessings over him. Then 4 men lifted up his chair and his dad shouted “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.” I have not ever been to anything like that before, but my gosh, even though it was a long ceremony, to have your dad impart words of blessing and encouragement and say then things he said in front of so many witnesses, very powerful.
Saturday was a beautiful day, and we were able to get alot of work done outside. Then, I had a meeting from 1-3. I am about tired of meetings on nice sunny days. They should be outlawed.
I hung out with Collette, Aaron, Corey, Meredith and Samii at the Grand Empire in Mishawaka. Then it was over to the Lighthouse for some drinks and fellowship. Aaron Griffey is quite the outgoing crazy person, but it was cool to have fun with him.
Sunday was church – lot of people there. Amazing how we are already talking about increasing the size of the auditorium since we are full. God is good, and people are hungry for a place that is passionately seeking the presence of the Lord and deeper intimacy with him. After church, Robert, Aaron and I went home (eventually) and watched Hotel Rwanda. I will post a separate entry on my thoughts about that.
After that, about 25 people came over for dinner. We had an awesome family time – Denny prays a blessing over each one of us and then we take communion together before we eat. It’s really cool. Later on, the kids convinced me to play hide and seek with them and I gotta say that I rock that game. The old man still can “outhide” and “outrun” the kids… even the teens. But gosh, I am feeling it today. My legs are killing me.
Well, the new week’s begun. Hope it’s a good one.

my dear sister… i am sure you believe you are the master, but never forget that i have honed my skills to an art since the days of hide and seek with the argotsingers…. you would not have a chance against me.
and kc – this is funny that you mention stick, because the other night i was hiding against the house, and we have a tudor style house (white with brown boards that run up and down) and i was literally hiding against the board and they kep walking right by me. it was rather humorous that i was hiding against an 8″ board.
josh- i am the master of hide and seek now!!! you need to come play with me and the kids and see whats what!!!…*
question…arent you supposed to let kids win? answer. negitive. i kick my 7 yr olds butt in battleship! oh and by the way, the reason that you are so good at hiding is because you can probably fit into any small space, and behind any tree (or stick). my dad has a hard time playing hide and seek for some reason.
All I can say is You are an amazing guy! All the questions to that statement are not needed. Why, cause they are all wicked evident! Blessings my brother!
Three things:
1) I so agree about outlawing the Saturday meetings – or at least postponing them all until October. Think that suggestion will fly?
2) I find it highly amusing that your hurting today. Bet if I ask Aaron, Collin, or Robert they would say they’re not feeling any pain! ;} Say it with me “I’m not a kid anymore.” Admitting it helps with the denial.
3) All this fun stuff over the weekend, and yet you still managed to get some lawn mowed. I’m very impressed!
