Updates and Whatnot

Posted on Monday 15 December 2003 by Joshua

Well, my gosh… what a weekend. Saddam Hussein was finally captured. The deposed dictator was found hiding in a messy farmhouse at the bottom of a 6 foot hole that he dug. I find it ironic that it was across the river from his gold encrusted presidential palaces. For as much criticism that is given to President Bush, I am glad that this objective was accomplished. Because if Howard Dean was the president (God forbid) Saddam would still be in power murdering innocent people and threatening other countries.

Speaking of the Democrat party… they really need to get their act together and find a viable candidate. I think most of these guys are pretty goofy. In my opinion the best candidate they have is either Lieberman or Gephart. The other guys can’t really figure out what they are supposed to believe so they keep changing their minds to whatever the sentiment at the moment is and when it changes have to furiously backpedal to recover.

Interestingly enough, I am reading a book called Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right by well known liberal satirist Al Franken. He attacks conservative authors and talk show hosts – mainly on the issue of factuality. And I find myself agreeing with his points. If, as a conservative, I am going to accuse someone of something, then I sure as heck better have my facts straight because if not, someone will check up on me and prove me wrong in the public forum. (Especially someone on the opposing side of the debate.)

Well, enough about politics…

It is cold out here in Indiana. Winter has arrived with all of its bluster and frigidity. Wednesday is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King day. There are about 20 of us going, so that will be interesting. We had a bunch of people here over the weekend – three couples who had come from Michigan who are thinking about moving down here to be a part of the ministry as well as 5 college-aged guys and girls who drove all the way from the Akron, Ohio area to find out about the House of Prayer. It’s pretty wild how God is drawing people to this little chunk of 157 acres in northern Indiana. But plans are n the works right now for a strip mall – and that excites me. It will have a coffeeshop, bookstore, concert venue, health club, office, real estate / construction office, the International House of Prayer, and the diner. So we are praying that it will come to fruition.
