Today is September 11th. Last year at this time, we were sitting there in shocked amazement at the images of the World Trade Center falling and people jumping to their deaths. I sat there today at the service of rembrance watching all those images which I have seen so many times and it still seems pretty unreal.
So now, a year has gone by. Are we [as a country] any different? Has anything really changed? Initially, we saw the country turn to God and pray and sing songs. But this same year we also saw the state of California decide that “One nation under God” is a worthless phrase. We saw countless people display the American flags along the streets and all over their cars and clothing. It suddenly became “in” to be patriotic. For a few months the movie industry backed off on the violent movies. But today, the same old garbage is still being pumped out of Hollywood, just the images of the World Trade Center in the NYC skyline has been edited out of some of the older stuff. Over 2,000 people lost their lives that day. And despite that tragedy… I don’t really think much has changed here.
