You might not think sitting around discussing the finer points of writing and tightening up paragraphs sounds like a fun morning, but I have to say it certainly was for me. One of my former colleagues from the college is co-authoring a book and she and the other author came to visit me this morning. The point of our meeting was that they had asked for my thoughts and help on the document they had to submit to the publisher. We had to create little sound-byte paragraphs describing various aspects of the book, and they had already done that, but we were just re-reading and rewording to improve flow and brevity. I was honored and a little flattered that they thought of me, and I was more than happy to help out. The whole experience was just so fun for me to sit and talk to these ladies about a book that they are passionately writing and knowing that it will bring hope to many who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse. It also opened my eyes to what kind of steps you have to take to even begin to submit a book for publishing. There’s nothing like a little variety to shake up your daily routine. By far it was one of the most enjoyable mornings I have had in a long time.
very cool- now you have me wondering how much time you spent “tightening up” the blog before you posted it.
david – good question. as a matter of fact i did tweak it several times before i posted it. as always, i welcome your grammatical comments! 🙂
Oh… that does sound fun! It’d be nice to take writing classes one day.
that is so you. I smile thinking of how that filled up your happy tank. 🙂
