The Vest is Back Baby!

Well yesterday was a wonderful day of “in your face fun” for me. I was walking through the mall with my friend Robert, who is a self proclaimed fashion authority. Not so, I claim… not so. You see, in late February of this year, my friend Eric Ward had an 80’s party at his home. For that party, I chose a vest similar to that worn by Marty McFly in the movie Back to the Future… you remember… the life preserver. At any rate, Robert was always mortified when I would wear this vest publically after the party because it was so “out.” Apparently not any longer, my friend. We walked into his favorite store – Aeropostale – and what to my wondering and amazed eyes was hanging on the rack but almost the exact same vest as I owned! Naturally, I was excited about this as I was fashionably villified, but things got even better when American Eagle was selling them as well. Oh my goodness, let me assure you that Robert’s face was rather funny as he staunchly denied that these vests were back in vogue. He tried to deny it as he proclaimed, “No, they aren’t in style.” I replied back, “Ok, if they were not in style, then why would they be the newest things at your favorite stores?” There was no response to that because he knew I was so right. So all that to say… the vest is back baby… wear it proud for the short while it will be here… and keep it in the closet, because in a few year it will make a comeback. The best thing is that I only paid $3 for mine… not $35.
