Tonka Toys
My sister, Sara, was wondering about my Tonka, so I thought I would share a picture of it. This vehicle is a very valuable tool for me as I use it to move all sorts heavy objects and piles of various and sundry things … Collette also uses it to move hay – it has this long spike on the back of it. It used to have one on the bucket, but one day, I tried to do something stupid with it and bent it over. Oh and Dad… yes that is me with an Earthworks shirt on. Just so you know.
Restaurant Design
I have never been a part of designing a restaurant from the beginning before, so it was really exciting to go to 2 days of planning and creative expression and exercise at the Troyer Group. Troyer is an architectural firm in Mishawaka and led by some awesome men who love the Lord. They do all these amazing buildings all over the US. LeRoy Troyer, the president, is real tight with President Carter and Habitat for Humanity, so we get to hear all the stories of his home building adventures. It was a fun day, starting with brainstorming, (no idea is a bad one) and then beginning to refine. After the ideas are more refined, we actually began space planning and relationships. Designing the flow of the building, and what should go where and how it would practically work together in a restaurant situation is not as easy as you would think. But we had a lot of fun and got a lot done.
Chocolate Goodness
My friend Robert and I are often out and around the South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart area. So the other night, as we were driving around, we discovered a little place called the South Bend Chocolate Cafe. South Bend Chocolate is already amazing enough, and now, there is a place that sells coffee drinks and other such exciting chocolate confections. Anyway, it was quite delicious and I am glad we found it.
On the Road Again
Dave and Liz left yesterday for 3 weeks of traveling across the US. They will be visiting such amazing places as Arizona, the Grand Canyon, the first Starbucks in Seattle, Montana, Wyoming… yeah ok, that’s enough because I am getting jealous. They will be sleeping in their truck and roughing it for most of the trip. I am not super jealous of that part of it though. Anyway, I can’t wait to see the pics of their journey!
So that’s a recap of the last few days. I need to write more frequently as things happen… but this was the first time I have had all weekend! Craziness, I tell you.
it looks like you are back home in hagaman with the tractor. keep writing , i enjoy your daily stories about what’s happening to you out in the middle of the country. practice your singing of Mr. lonely. uncle tom in vermont
A. I love the tractor! You know my favorite thing at the Elk. County 4H Fair has always been the TRACTOR PULL! 😀 OOOH! so fun and you get so dirty!
B. The Restraunt is gonna be so fun once it is open and running along with the rest of the American Country Side. And those Troyer Men, along with the other fine fellas that work with the program always seem to be such a blessing. I pray extra blessing for them as well.
C. I don’t really like Chocolate and I surely don’t like Coffee, however I am glad that the two of you boys are excited about both in one place. You two deserve some exciting treasures. I have driven down SR. 19 on my way to town twice now and have seen you both working away in the yard after a long day of working away at school and voice!
Last but not least…
D. I am gonna miss those wonderful Carey’s. But, boy do they need a time away together with the Lord.
I hope that you are having a great time! I am not really sure why I wrote all that but….I will see you tonight!
Nice.
