Last night as I was driving to the camp, my battery light came on. That was odd as I had never seen that one before. I also noticed that my dash lights all seemed dimmer than usual. As I reached the end of the driveway and turned onto the road, it became apparent that my car was slowly dying. Lights began popping on, one by one… ABS, airbag, then the radio shut off… I said oh no, that would be the alternator. I quickly did a U-turn and floored it. My lights were getting dimmer and dimmer. I pulled back into the driveway and turned them completely off (which gave me an immediate boost in power). Of course it was very dark and we have alot of deer… but that didn’t deter me. I flew down the driveway in the dark hoping to make it to the end. Just as I rounded the last corner near the house, the car died and I coasted into my parking spot. I breathed a large sigh of thanks that I at least was home, and not on the side of the road somewhere. So the BeaterBeamer needs a new alternator, most likely… Cars… sheesh.
Victor and I are praying for you. We know how that goes. 🙂
Friendly reminder Victor is my car! 🙂 wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea! heehehee!
Hate when that happens, at least you were in your driveway. Cars can be so much fun. Hey Josh do hybrid cars have alternators? Might be a better alternative with the way gas prices keep going up. Gas is average $3.05 here in NY.
Kevin – not sure… thankfully my car gets about 35-40mpg when it does run, and also thankfully our gas prices are around $2.88 (which is still ridiculous, i might add, considering oil companies posting record profits and CEO’s taking massive retirement pensions… yeah they are allowed to make money, that’s the american way, but still…we need to get off the oil binge that plagues our nation…if it were not for the oil company lobbyists and the auto maker lobbyists… i wonder if we would be a country with true energy innovations – leaders in the world rather than dependant consumers.) end rant.
