Living near the Great Lakes is really a privilege. The dunes, sunsets, swimming, winding roads along the “coast” all make for enjoyable summer activities, but winter can bring with it a certain beauty. The shelf ice is always cool to visit as it reminds you of Antarctica. This year, I got to see a truly magnificent and beautiful sight. The water had frozen beautiful wind sculpted shapes all over one of the lighthouses in Michigan. Standing there in the bitter wind and seeing the deep cloudy sky with a sliver of yellow at the horizon and the surreal shapes of a gothic wedding cake of white or an Elfin palace deep in the heart of middle earth, I thought to myself, “Wow, this is truly marvelous. I get to see this beauty. To touch it. To breathe in the cold air from the lake. To take photos of it and share them with others. What a privilege. I love this part of life!” So here is my gallery from the day. >>
