The card game we like

Posted on Saturday 19 January 2002 by Joshua

The card game we like to call “Afghani Camel Hump” is certainly one of the most entertaining pastimes that has been a frequent part of my life of late. Tonight, sitting around the long tables at the Blue Lion Coffeehouse and listening to the screaming and slapping of hands on the table (very red and scratched hands – both from the sharp, blunted edges of Jesse’s fingers to the daggers belonging to Cori) and the constant smack talking of Jason, made for a very amusing but also relaxing night. That might have also had something to do with the hazlenut hot chocolate. Gosh, I love that stuff.

Last night I sat with Dave, Liz and Darci at the Refinery Cafe with [it had to be] 200 or so other people. Jammed into a hot and sweaty place listening to a bad singer with an out of tune guitar is not usually my idea of an ideal situation, but hey, it was fun anyway. It probably had to do with the company. Jenga, Afghani and speed Scrabble [a new one on me] were the featured games of the night. For some reason these type of games always bring out the boisterous in me and I turn into this raucous red-faced freak. Ah, the bane of having fair Irish skin. I burn in the sun and beet with embarrassment or strain.

Last night: My friend Kristi had decided to leave Grace late last week and came to the realization [yesterday?] that she had, in fact made a grevious error in judgement. After much discussion with many people, she decided to return to college life, for which I am glad. Somehow, in the discussion of things, I introduced her to Blogger and encouraged her to join. She is now a member of the online blogging community at http://kayrob.blogspot.com. Check out her page and give her a shout out of encouragement. She is most assuredly a more interesting [and better] writer than myself.
