Spring Rains

Posted on Saturday 10 May 2003 by Joshua

It’s been raining in the flatlands and the river’s on the rise… Fortunately there is a high dike around the one side of our property. The Indians called the sleepy little stream behind our house “Baubaugo” [Devil Water] because of its amazing ability to rise and change into a fast moving river. The pond in front of our house is so high that it is above the footbridge which goes out to the center area.

Yesterday a wonderful day in Winona Lake [where, at Big Apple Bagels with Jimmy, Fricke, Winey, Lukas, Jason and Jordan … Jimmy was in one of the goofiest moods I have seen in a long time … made me chuckle]. Enjoyed a party at Grace for Liz Sprankle [she is moving to Arizona]. Then it was on to pick up the SeaDoo and brave the 59 degree water and put her in. Oh the freedom … how I have missed skimming over the water at fast speeds! But she is all docked now and ready to go. Then it was an evening of dinner on the deck with Tom and Tina [I always say “yes” to fresh salad and grilled chicken!]. They are the best! We sat out there for a while and watched the coming storm.

Driving back to Osceola, the windows down and the moist, humid air rushing through the truck … lightning arcs across the skies … thunder rolling and rumbling … an awesome display. When I arrived home, I sat outside in the rain and enjoyed the show. I think God is doing his spring cleaning At least that is what I always imagine when it thunders and rains.
