It’s been a crazy couple of weeks where I feel like I have been in a non-stop-crazy-frenetic-get-it-done-yesterday mode like the guy from the FedEx commercials of the 80s. I have been working at the Camp getting things spruced up for spring – mowing, organizing, plotting and planning – then trying to finish the storage room in the basement here at the house. Meanwhile, as I was wandering about one day, I found an incredibly great deal on a big window at the Habitat Restore. Measured it up (112″ x59.5″) and it would work for the screened in porch which we are converting to an all seasons room. With the help of my friend Scott Starkweather and Billy, we got that put in in just a couple hours. That evening, I stopped by to help my friends Trent and Chad Nichols do a fundraiser carwash (I was there to get my truck washed, which incidentally never did happen) and ended up helping them wash cars. We must have done about 50 or more, but a bunch of money was raised and it was a lot of fun. Next day was powerwash the house day, so my friend Trent Nichols came over with all his gear and began doing the cleaning. I built a fence in the morning around the hot tub area, and was at a loss of what else to do when I ran out of wood, so I began the arduous task of cleaning out the shed. It was so good though to throw so much stuff away and hang all the cabinets properly along the wall, organize the tools and supplies. There is so much more room now!

In the mean time during the week after work, I try to bike every day, but if not, at least every other day. In March, I rode 15 days totalling over 100 miles. I hope to beat that this month by far. It’s fun to find new trails and paths to take. Generally I ride a series of circuits I have mapped out on the roads near my house, but I have been feeling adventuresome lately so new trails are on my radar. I ride armed with camera, or at least my phone. I use an app called Strava to map my time, distance and route. The Lord is so good to enable me the freedom to enjoy being outside and experience the beauty of His creation. I love the cool little places I come across each time I ride and often find myself thanking Him for the amazing work of His hands in all the intricacies of the pants, flowers, rocks, birds and streams that I encounter along my travels.

The trees are just bursting with life – flowers are popping everywhere, and color is just invading what was dormant and grey for so long. Life has come back and I love this time of year. It brings with it such an invigorating need to breathe deep, to bury your face in a tree full of fragrance, to take a week off from work and just explore. Well, I have not done that part yet, but cabin fever hits me pretty hard on days where the sun is shining and the air is breezy with skies so blue. It just begs for an adventure. So get out there. Enjoy what the Lord has given you. If not, you might turn into one of these guys…
