So the question was raised last evening… Were the disciple of Jesus more direct with the message of the gospel than Jesus himself was? Jesus spoke in [often obscure] parables and even those closest to Him often asked for explanations yet the crowds followed this man. Did they really understand what he was saying or were they after a big show or some free fish? Jesus reached out to the “down and out” of society. He was a radical because he bucked convention and changed the status quo. But did the people [at the time] really understand what was going on?
His disciples spread his message with boldness and conviction in their hearts, and it was a simple one believe and you will have life. His disciples were unafraid in their proclamations that Jesus Christ is God. They knew the truth … and were not afraid to spread it with passion and fervor. Many of them met bloody ends because of their tremendous convictions. But they had seen the proof that this man was who He said He was. They had seen him crucified and then come back.
So regardless of who was more or less direct… it comes down to the question of who do I say He is? And if I say He is my God … what am I going to do about it and how is that going to affect my daily life?
Anyway, not sure where I am going with this… Just thought I would write it down while I was still thinking about it.
