We all wear different shoes. I just recently switched from my faithful orange and brown DC’s to brown and gold Etnies Lo Cuts. It’s funny that I wear skater shoes since I have very little coordination on a skateboard, but they are really light and comfortable and I enjoy wearing them. My DC’s started smelling nasty since I got them wet, and they had to go. I was thinking about shoes this morning as I tied my laces and thought about how shoes so often reflect our personalities and how we change our shoes to fit certain occasions. My friend Eric, for example, has these vintage teal colored Doc Martens. They work for him. He has a personality that can pull those off with no problem. Bob Deering often wears new looking sneakers that are always bright white (like Jerry Seinfeld?). Sometimes I wear my bright white Ralph Lauren Polo sneakers, and other times I wear my brown Kenneth Cole casual shoes. When I am at Voice working outside, I generally wear sport/utility boots with steel toes. Robert always wears dirty sneakers, Dave Carey often is seen wearing shoes that came from a bowling alley, and Corey Stark has not worn shoes since I have known him – he chooses the sandal route. (Girls shoes is another topic all together and I won’t comment on at this point.) So the point of this rambling post is to say that our shoes tell about our lives, and we can’t fully understand or appreciate each other until we [figuratively] put our feet in someone else’s shoes, lace them up, and walk around for a bit.
It is so very true. I was thinking about that a while ago when someone I knows wears High Heeled everything all day everyday. Rain, Snow, Mud, Ice, all of it. It totally amazes me.
🙂 I am more of a boot lover myself and sometimes cute lil sporty sneakers, and once in a while a cute boot with a bit of heel. 🙂 Gotta change for the mood you are right about that!
Poetry, pure poetry.
What does barefoot say about a person? 😛
What does it say about a person who wears animal skin (leather) on their feet? CRUELTY TO ANIMALS is what it says to me!
Now take me for example, while you’re wearing Bambi on your feet, I prefer my lettuce loafers or on a day I’m feeling sassy I might just be seen in my nori roll sandals. I think God really appreciates it when we STOP KILLING everything.
nice try mertha.
Mood Smood. Growing up I owned one pair of brown shoes and one pair of black shoes. Since I have married up in the shoe department, I have branched out…a little. It’s all about comfort for me and with that said I still feel like a sell-out when I put on my boots (acquired only last year). They are so uncomfortable. So why do I wear them? It’s anti-christ system, that’s what… 🙂
it was definitely not me Joshua. I promise! Holy cow that is funny tho.
