response

Posted on Sunday 28 November 2004 by Joshua

I was going to respond to Jason’s comments in the comment box of the last post, but then I figured I would just do a new post.

The point I was trying to make was the incongrous relationship between the three movies. The Passion is such a heavy, deep movie that wrenches the soul – it is not an entertainment piece. Yu-gi-oh! is nothing but a “new age” (or age old deception) philosophy specifically designed to target the next generation with lies.

We say that we love Jesus with our lips but our lives show otherwise. It is one thing to sing Amazing Grace… but then, at the next moment, to passively sit and allow the enemy to assault our eyes and ears with ideas, morals and values that are completely contrary to scripture does not seem to be wisdom.

I am as guilty as the next person of wasting my time on hollow pursuits… but I am striving to rid them from my life.

It was more of an observation than throwing stones. Thanks for the comment though. I welcome the discussion!

josh, lots of love. I couldn’t help it after that last post. I found myself pulling up things like,”yeah, well you like seinfeld!” and not even to defend myself, you and I know I am sure about my own decisions.

but when I decide to take the side of some random person I won’t ever meet against you, I get concerned. perhaps a better explanation of what your purpose was would have helped, no hard feelings. lots of love.

I’m not going to be as hard hitting as Jason (hi, by the way)… but I think I agree.

    1) Watch out for sweeping generalizations. Let’s not be legalistic either.

    2) Criticizing others from a distance, constructive or not, generally ends in failure because you don’t have the whole story.

    3) Family Video obviously isn’t a “family” store. Point taken and agreed, but totally overshadowed by numbers 1 and 2.

    4) I’m listening to Fear Factory right now. I bet there is a lot people could say about my entertainment preference. But they shouldn’t, because they don’t know me, and if they did their *OPINION* would most likely change.

It takes a lot of guts to continue writing about matters that could prove controversial. A while ago I removed all my old entries. I am trying to prevent opinions from being formed… I want people to see a portfolio and actually give me a call. I watch what I say online more than others, yet still try to be myself.

Perhaps someone will be my advocate and write a fourth letter to Grace College asking them to take down my old employee page so it doesn’t show up on Google? Idiots.

Anyway, props to wonderbox for keeping it real since 2001.
