My gosh, how fast the summer has flown by! It is nearly September and the leaves will be turning and then falling and then… the snow. Ok, I don’t want to think about such things right now. Yesterday was one of those amazing days – low humidity, 80 degrees, sunny, and crystal blue skies. After church, we went to Mishawaka and then, since it was so nice, decided to get a Frappuccino at Starbucks on the Notre Dame campus. All the students were coming back – so it was cool seeing them all having fun outside their respective halls – water wars and the like, as well as many renditions from bands practicing the Notre Dame fight song. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
Freshly manicured lawns at Rogers Lodge provide a lovely setting for quiet rest and solitude… wait that sounds like a hotel advertisement. It’s really just a picture of the recently mown lawn at our house. Is it mowed or mown? Hmmm.
Millions of peaches, peaches for free… millions of peaches, peaches for me! We have all these fruit trees and there are so many peaches and pears and apples. They aren’t bad either. I am not a big peach guy, but i have tried some of them since they are so ripe and juicy looking. The pears are a bit chalky tasting, but passable.
Meet Robert and Robert… Bob is the director of Voice and his son Robert is a football player in the Jimtown league. All I know is after Saturday, I wouldn’t mess with him. The boy can tackle! His first game was Saturday and his team, the Smashers, defeated the Rockets 21 to 0. Last year the Rockets dominated and the Smashers did not win a single game. Needless to say, this was a nice victory for the Smashers. They play at the Osceola GBC of all places.
Since Sunday was such a phenomenal day, It seemed like the perfect day for a trip to the Golden Dome. Some guy asked me to take a picture of his family and then he said he would take one of me and Robert. So here you go… Josh and Robert in front of a Notre Dame landmark. Also… try Starbucks Double Mocha Chip Creme Frappuccino. It rocks.
After we got back, we decided a game of hockey was in order. For those who know me, sports has never been a strong suit for me, but over the years people have been instrumental in dragging me to sports events and making me play games with them. So Robert and I do play basketball and now roller hockey. We found some sticks in the barn and I bought a ball, so it works. Funny thing is that I keep winning, so I must be doing something right. I know Jeremy would laugh at my hockey playing skills… but that’s ok, We have some fun and get some exercise doing it, so it’s all good.
I forgot I was going to do a post about Robert turning 16. We had a youth outing last week here at the Camp and had about 25 or so kids camping here. So Robert got to pretty much hang out with all his friends on his birthday – big water war, lots of playing sports, Krispy Kremes for breakfast and great time of worship and talking around the bonfire. Sounds like a cool day to me. Anyway, For his birthday, he got a iPod mini from yours truly (trying to keep him indoctronated into the Apple way of life, haha!) and I have to say, it’s pretty sweet. So Happy Birthday to my good friend and brother Robert.
So….You guys weren’t on the same team? You have matching “uniforms” and everything. 🙂 Tee Hee!
Its so nice to see pics of people from back home. Hope you are well. Talk to you soon. Hugs and Love, Darc-
