Perspective

Posted on Tuesday 23 December 2008Tuesday 23 December 2008 by Joshua

The thing that struck me most about this video was how this man, who does not believe in God, is entirely right when he says that if we truly believe in the reality of heaven and hell, why would we not be willing to tell everyone we know? If it is just social awkwardness, he said, how much hate would we have in our hearts to not tell them. The reality is that there is a truck coming – it’s bearing down on us and will destroy this world. If I have not lived my life in such a way that my friends, family and others that I encounter know that there is hope and rescue from that truck, then I have not been bold. This video really made me ponder that today. And as Eric commented, I pray that a seed has indeed been planted in his heart.

    Interesting….

Cliche…would Jesus have handed someone a Gideon Bible?

    “Follow me.” Mark 1:17

Even though we are not Jesus…

“Follow me as I follow Christ.” 1 Cor 11:1

A seed is a seed. Something happened there and it sounds like Penn is chewing on it.

    Is a seed a seed?

Sure, God can use EVERYTHING, even Satanic people to bring people to Him….I sure wouldn’t say to a situation involving that could be seen as “a seed.” haha, in one way it is, though! I certainly wouldn’t tell people to live in such a way.

I think a lot of times we look at “effort” as a way to deceive ourselves…I, for one, habitually do this.

Hence, the people who stand before Jesus in Matthew 7. I think they will utterly be shocked. I am not the judge of men, but I COULD see Him saying something to those people like, “you tried, but you didn’t hear my words…LOVE( I define this by “walk” with them) them, not give them a tract that preaches to them.”

This is tough…I go back and forth a lot.

And if you notice…his comment and focus was about the guy being “nice” and DIFFERENT in his approach….

The tract he barely mentioned and ended with, “there is still no God.”

It was how he was treated in the process.

A seed is a grain of thought, a piece of hope. If by that one conversation, whereby a man treated him with respect and honesty, a small glimmer of Jesus shone through and moved in his heart, who is to say that is not a seed planted?

Thanks Josh, I’m glad you see the point I was trying to make. Penn is a devout atheist and to hear him be actually moved by someone giving him a bible is one of Gods miracles in my book. And Penn is right, if we actually believe that someones soul might be in jeopardy why do we not say and do everything we can to let them know that Jesus is the way, truth and the life and that no one goes to the Father except through Him. I for one believe that all we can do is try and be responsive in what God and the Spirit are trying to tell us individually. And to try to make sure that our spiritual ears are open. The only way to do that is to make sure that we know Him and that we know His voice. Many seeds were planted in my life and some that I saw non important at the time. But in looking back God used the things He knew that would bring me to Him, even failures. So yes, a seed is a seed and only God sees the full maturity in the growth. Our job is to love and obey.
