On the Run

Posted on Sunday 28 April 2013Sunday 28 April 2013 by Joshua

Tonight I was thinking of my love for electronic music and where it originated and a memory came to me recently that really was a pivotal moment for a young kid who had never been exposed to much music outside of “church music.” We listened to folk music and Public Radio – irish music, stuff like that, but not much else when we were young. Then one day, Dad found an 8track player that worked and he stuck in this group called Pink Floyd. The Album was Dark Side of the Moon (of course) and the first song he played for me was On the Run. Holy cow… I will never forget that. I was in another world for those 4 minutes or so. For a little kid that loved futuristic stuff – my mind was seeing all kinds of spaceships and transformers and robots in a big spaceport. I listened to it today and it took me back to that moment, standing there by the kitchen table lost in imagination… and that’s why I love how electronic music artists have such a unique ability to mix and create digitally all kinds of amazing sounds that coalesce into this beauty called music.
