Many years ago, I got a copy of this little magazine that changed the course of my computing life. The principal of my school, Fred Spier, was a Mac guy from day one, so my tiny private school in upstate NY had these little beige boxes on the desks in the offices. They weren’t like the other computers with their black screen and boring green letters, but these had pictures and icons and you dragged stuff around with a thing called a mouse! My good friend James Morrone helped to teach me the way to use a Mac in round about 1988 and since then I have never looked at a PC – except in derision, haha! (Funny how back in those days, Jay was an avid Amiga proponent!) Honestly though, I appreciate the thought and design that goes into the Apple products and I know that my life has been greatly enhanced by the use of this amazing technology.
I thought, given the passing of Mr. Jobs, that I should scan my premier 1984 edition of MacWorld and post it in his memory. A lot has changed in Apple since then… I daresay they have revolutionized the world of portable computer, music and mobile phones! Who would have thought that these little beige boxes would have ever ended up where they are today.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Steve Jobs. He was 56.
