Off to School

Yesterday was, by far, the hottest trip I have ever taken. The Rogers family and I caravanned to Kansas City to see Robert off to school and spend some time down here as well. It was in the 90s most of the trip but did reach 103 once we reached Missouri. Robert had no a/c and mine was off (it doesn’t work that well) so the windows were all down. We must have stopped for water at least every hour. It was a veritable sauna in my car! I must have lost 5 lbs just sweating. Needless to say, it was not the most enjoyable way to travel… but no traffic, and no problems, so that was good. Denny & Ev had a/c in their car, so they made better time and actually beat us here. We got him all moved into his new place – he shares a house with 4 other guys I think. School orientation begins tomorrow, so it sounds like he is going to be pretty busy. On Sunday there was a great time of prayer for him – all the people who have been a part of his life came up and prayed for him and then all the teens as well. Very cool. Last night we went to IHOP for a bit – great to be back. It was full of activity and passionate people – lots of young guys and girls – and it was really intense. It’s so amazing to come to this place and realize that prayer and worship has been going on every hour of every day for the past 9 years without stopping. How wild is that? It’s an awesome thing and I am excited for Robert to be a part of it.
