Observations at “Family” Video

Posted on Saturday 27 November 2004 by Joshua

There is a video chain right down the road from me that is called Family Video. I am not exactly sure why they chose this name since many of the titles in their store are inappropriate for families. In fact, I would say they are pretty much destructive to families. But I suppose that would be the case with any video chain. So while I was aimlessly wandering through Family Video this evening…

A short, grey-haired woman strolls through the new releases humming Amazing Grace while she picks up several movies that will certainly require all of that grace she is humming about. She puts them down and settles on several episodes of Friends. Yikes.

A family of three is standing at the counter. They have the Passion of the Christ, Yu-Gi-Oh! and the Chronicles of Riddick. Anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

As with all video stores, there are rooms for movies that are completely vile. However, at Family Video, there are movies that state “You Must 18 to Rent” that are out in the regular section of the store. Hello! And now, I notice more and more videos are getting the “unrated” definition. I think I am going to write Family Video a letter.

so how many days did you have to go without sin for God to give you your own post to judge other people at?

and I see nothing wrong with them having those movies and the passion. That may be the only time they ever hear the story of Christ. He can still work. Christ spent His time with sinners, still does, why shouldn’t the movie?
