New York

Posted on Monday 19 May 2003 by Joshua

Another 1600 or so miles on the old Pathfinder = an exciting weekend in upstate NY. Mom graduated with her Master in Social Work this weekend and the family all gathered to congratulate. Matt, Trish and baby Abrianna ventured out from their uppity east coast Connecticut ghetto townhouse. Sara and her crazy clan of three managed to get down … oh wait, I had to go get two of them.

The kids are all growing up so fast. It’s amazing. Kayli was telling us these hilarious stories about “Super Kayli to the Rescue” and her theme song which went something like “Blue and Magenta … Blue and Magenta…” I was laughing too hard to hear the rest. Ryan is riding his own two wheeler now and doing pretty well … except for when he scratched the side of Sara’s truck with the handle bars. Oh well, it will just match the nice part on the back where Kayli decided to make nice circles in the paint with a rock. Rhea is getting bigger too. She was strumming the guitar, so maybe she has a future in music. Abriana is walking and chattering too. She is very expressive. I took a ton of pictures of her, so I am sure she was very happy to see the camera put away. One of my favorite moments though, had to be when I was driving Ryan and Kayli back to the house and we were listening to the Meeting Place – “I Have Decided” and Ryan just goes, “ya know, I really like that Jesus music.” That was awesome.

It was really nice just being home and seeing everyone. Dad drove back from Buffalo so that was cool. I think one of the strangest sites had to be when Dad and I went into Price Chopper. We are, shall we say, total opposites on the appearance spectrum. Matt, Trish and I went down and visited the new addition Joseph Alan Mirabile. Lisa was very happy and I am so glad for her and Joe.

Family is fun. Well … not always, but maybe when you are 800 miles away, it’s more fun to see them in short bursts. I don’t know. I do miss everyone alot though, so maybe I need a longer burst.
