Well, today President Barack Obama was officially sworn in as the 44th President of United States. Naturally, I watched the address online with my official 7-eleven Obama cup of hot chocolate. Amazing, the merchandising that has gone on about this event! Even more amazing that I participated, but I wanted to get into the spirit of the thing. He is a great speaker and I pray that God would bless him and guide His path as he leads our country. He has been placed here by God (Romans 13). Even though I do not agree with all of his positions, my job now is to pray for him and respect the position he has been elected to.
I will say one thing though… They sure built one heck of an ugly car for him to ride around in. Anyone seen the new presidential limo yet? They call it “The Beast.” When I see this thing, it is no surprise that US automakers are failing. This limo is right up there with one of the worst cars ever designed, the Pontiac Aztec. This ungainly vehicle has no style, grace or class. GM, you need a new design team.
Astute observations there sir. Merch-madness never seemed to reach GM’s design team for the limo design. Are they disgruntled by the political scrutiny? Who knows…
I concur!
hey listen, the car may be ug-ola but i’m sure it’s geared with a 7 ply bullet proof, sound proof, noise proof inspector gadget-esque type engineering.
He’s the tip of the arrow in a very historic time in history.
I can feel it …… the tide has just turned.
Hmmmmmm. I like the Aztech. Isn’t that the SUV the turns into a tent in the back. I thought it was creative. But anyhow, I am glad to be a part of history. But I have noticed that this may be the first President to also be “celebritized” He seems more like a celebrity than a President so far. I mean, I just found out that someone made 14 million dollars by selling Obama commemorative dinner plates. That just seems excessive to me. Imagine getting one of those for Christmas. Ok, I’ve rambled. I am neither pro-Obama nor anti-Obama, But I do have enough sense and compassion to pray that God’s will be done in his life as well as all of ours.
Oh, I almost forgot. Ashford and Simpson Blow the Roof Off CNN Studios with their new version of old tune “Solid as a Rock” now called “Solid as Barack”. Check it out on Youtube.

Just wondering, why do we pray for “God’s will to be done?” I am sure it is a “saying,” but it is clear in the Bible that God’s will WILL be done in all things regardless of EVERYTHING.
I like what Oswald says, “Prayer is not about changing things, but of changing our hearts….to get God’s heart for people/things.”
Or as in Matrix Reloaded when Neo is talking to the Oracle, Neo: “Well, how can I make a choice if it has already happened? Oracle: “you are not here to make a choice, you are here to understand the choice that has been made.”
Wow, what an awesome movie………….
So when asked “How should we pray” Jesus responds. “……Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” If Jesus said to pray that the will of God be done on the earth than surely I will pray for that.
Also, I hope this is a lot more than just a “saying” to believers.
Interesting…..
So, can God’s will NOT be done, can something stop it? I am curious about your thoughts on that?
i think it’s both
Josh you look so great with the Obama cup..
Woohoo a great day for all us Americans….
Well, they are mutally exclusive…that is like saying God can be and not be…
Either humans have the ability to affect His will or they don’t….don’t see how it could be both unless you want to talk about it as an illusion.
goood stufff…
The idea is not to effect the will of God but to see it come to pass in perfection. When I pray “Your will be done in so-and-so’s life” I am essentially praying that the “Yes” in so-and-so’s heart will increase and that any hindrance that may come against that person from accomplishing God’s will would be gone. All of us get off track all the time. Where we are, on that track, depends on the posture of our heart and the Yes in our spirit. I guess what I could be saying is that it is possible to die without ever accomplishing God’s will in our lives. It’s up to us. that’s part of the free will agreement.
Josh, TN voted yesterday on a very controversial issue and I wanted to get your take on it, because I know you have to have an opinion 🙂 There was a proposition that English should be the official language of TN, which would require all government communication to be in English. Any thoughts?
Ok, got it…so you do think humanity can affect God’s will…if I understand the “free will agreement” statement. Thanks for clarifying
Casey – if I recall, you don’t believe that we actually have free will, rather that it is our perception and God does what He does regardless? I forget, it’s been a while since that discussion.
You would be correct, Mr. Petrillo…I was just wondering what Eric and Mert thought….
Free will is what allows me to choose to love God. He doesn’t make me love Him. To not believe in free will and that God just controls us and our situation regardless is a very interesting take on things. It doesn’t sound like a relationship that I want to be in.
Eric…this is the nature of the beast and your sentiments are exactly why this has been debated for centuries…; understandably.
The question really needs to come down to Scripture….A lot of times, when the layers are unfolded, people believe something because of their nature of what is “fair” and not what Scripture presents….
If we allow the Scriptures to speak as they are, we soon see that a god who gives free will is the utmost dishonorable god of gods. And as easily as it would be to just let people believe in a god who is not the God of the Bible, we would show or ill desires to not care about others.
That said, if this interests you, would love to talk about it as much as you would want. Not to debate, but to encourage each other and hopefully see God, either way, for who He is.
