My friend Jimmy Thorn and I went to the Elco tonight for some Meeting Place-style worship and preaching. Sergio Scataglini spoke tonight at the Meeting Place about Jonah. Isn’t it funny that when we run from God, it never works. Either we turn around and do what He originally wanted us to do, or we end up being miserable and unhappy for a long time and we entirely miss out on His blessing and always regret it.
After Jonah, discovered this fact, he went a gave a message of warning to the city of Ninevah. [I wonder how long it will be until God sends someone to our nation? How low will we have to sink before we are destroyed by our own depraved behavior?] For Ninevah, repentance came and God’s anger was abated at their repentance. He is a God of Mercy.
Lord, thanks. Thanks for putting up with all my crap. Forgiving me when I repeatedly engage in the same sin. Honestly, I don’t even know how you can be so tolerant of my failings. Despite my constant bending to my old nature, your unfailing love surrounds me and you are so faithful to forgive my sin. Your holiness awes me whenever I come into a place of worship with You. I can not even begin to fathom how you operate, for Your ways are beyond my comprehension. Praise your name for you are Holy and Righteous and Awesome. Thank you for loving such a sinner as myself. I am truly undeserving.
