The red line follows the driveway to the Lodge. As you can see, it really is a mile long. We have to be careful now during the fall that we don’t hit a deer. They love to jump out of the cornfields and scare you.
Speaking of driveways… I saw the strangest thing in my driveway the other day. As I was leaving for my mile-long drive to the main road, there sitting in the tall grass along the drive was a beautiful blue necked peacock. Now, I am not a bird expert by any means, but I know a peacock when I see one. Why this exotic creature is at my house is beyond me. So I stopped the truck and tried to swiftly get my camera ready, but the bird being all wary and such took off running through the corn stalks. I was unable to get a shot of him. But several others who have visited the property have said they saw a peacock as well and it hangs out with the turkeys.
I remember once hearing a story about an eagle that was raised in a chicken farm. It pecked grain like a chicken, acted like a chicken because that was all it had ever known. The eagle never realized that it was this amazing creature of strength and beauty because all it’s life it had just experienced the wire fence of the chicken yard. I wonder if this peacock has hung out with the turkeys for so long, it doesn’t realize what it is…

He got lost on a inter-species barrier-crossing diplomatic envoy… This peacock cares not what his buddies will think of him if he hangs out with those goofy turkeys. He is accepted with the turkeys and they like him even though he is different than they are. They don’t snub him or laugh at him with his blue neck or weird rainbow tail feathers… They think he’s cool and unique. And now that he is hanging out with them every day, he understands them so much more and realizes that they are some really cool birds, not just red bearded weirdos.
So anyway, I will continue my quest to get a picture of Ambassador Peacock… the lost peacock who runs with the wild turkeys…
I am hoping that Betsy isn’t talking about my PARENTS house! 😀 However they do have alot of them. Hugs and Love, >>Darc-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Maybe the peacock escaped from a Peacock farm in Middlebury. 🙂
I don’t know if you were inspired by the peacock or what, but I really love the blue backround and the new graphics and picture on the front page.
Don’t you just love Google Maps
