Now, for a non political topic… My sister Sara’s birthday is today! It was really great to see her earlier this month and I am so glad we were able to hang out. So not too long ago, [not revealing ages here] this little person was born into the world and they called her Sara. She refused to allow anyone to put an “H” at the end of her name as she learned to spell; it was quite taboo. Interestingly enough, as she learned to write, she realized she was left handed and would often write her name backwards – ARAS. I never could figure that one out when I was a kid. She was very outspoken, especially at Christmastime. One particularly verbal event was at the mall. This sweet old lady comes up to her and says politely, “And what is Santa going to bring you this year for Christmas?” Sara, having been taught the real story of Christmas, pulled no punches. “There is no Santa Claus!” she bellowed to the startled lady. Yep, that’s my sister. And even today, she is who she is regardless of what anyone thinks. Currently, Sara is part of an all female group of chainsaw carvers – the Chainsaw Chix. I am proud of her for taking this step and being a part of this creative venture. She’s very talented – not only in writing and photography, but she can take a lump of wood and see something in it that few would ever see and turn it into something beautiful. So today I celebrate my sister and how much I love and respect her. Happy mrrrwwshthhth Birthday Sara!
