What was running through my head this morning as I began my day is beyond me. After becoming somewhat more coherent after a shower, I fumbled under the sink and picked up a bottle of Windex to spray my hair… Why? I have no idea. As a general rule, I use gel. I just started laughing and said aloud to the mirror, “my gosh, I have become my mother.”
For those of you not in the know, here’s a little family story. One day, my mother, Barbara, was running late for work. She dashed into the bathroom, where my sister, Sara, was getting ready. Mom quickly picked up a bottle and sprayed her hair… with 409 cleaner. Sara was shocked by the outrageous behavior of her apparently insane mother. “Mom! That’s 409!” But did Mom stop and wash it out? Nope. “Oh well,” she said, “I am already late.” And out the door she went. I guess it had no effect on her hair, although I imagine it must have smelled for a while. Yup, that’s my mom. We all still laugh about that little episode.
Pemricks – Crazy in the same sentence? This could not possibly have happened! Are you sure Josh you didn’t imagine this? I know my smart, beautiful sister would never dream of going to work with 409 in her hair! After all, she is a Pemrick!
I love you blog, it keeps me entertained!
Mom was equally shocked and carried on a bit 🙂 I thought I was going to have green hair!!
Oh yes… the Pemrick craziness there have many moments of laughter which came from Mom. I remember her not being to stand upright in Stewart’s parking lot due to laughing so hard she would have an embarrassing moment if she did.
And then there is the chocolate incident.
I keep telling Sara she is taking after her mother, but Oh no not you too Josh!
What is life without laughter. We all embarrass ourselves and it sure is fun to tell the stories.
Is this column sindicated?
Laugh on………… Mom
Hahaha Josh,
I think this is a Pemrick thing, but I won’t tell you what I have done and what Gram Pemrick did, maybe I will tell when you come visit so you know where it comes from. That is too funny.
Kevin
Over the years I’ve heard you tell a story or two about your mom, and she always strikes me as a pretty neat lady. 🙂 Word.
That’s awesome! My sister once woke up in the middle of the night and thought it was morning. She put on her make up and realized it wasn’t morning so she went back to bed. (thinking she had gotten ready) She woke up then in the morning and figured she was done, she only had make up on one side of her face. Ha…guess you have to be there when my sister tells it. 😀 Now me on the other hand, have NEVER done anything like that…Windex or 409!!!! Hahahaahaaaaa!!!!
I awakened a bit depressed this morning, and this is the first thing I read. You made me laugh! Thanks, Joshua!
Thats awesome! Its even better since I have met your mom and gotten to know her a bit. 🙂
