Not being a complete techno-buff like some of my friends (ahem Dave Carey, Scott Devlin), I have not had a very “cool and hip” cell phone. I owned the reliable Razr. I joke that I often cut myself while talking on it, which usually nets me many jeers, boos and an occasional tomato. As much as I would love to own an iPhone (like my sister, the Starks and the aforementioned upwardly mobile Careys) I am on Verizon which does not support the iPhone. Thus, I chose the next best thing… the LG Dare. Honestly, I love this phone. The touch screen is very nice, the display is bright, the numbers are big (a fact that Nancy Dudka would appreciate) and the navigation is fairly intuitive. Now I am sure there are many discussions and criticisms about Verizon’s locked down system and the flaws of this phone, and there are many of those claims that could be valid, but for someone who just wants a sweet, easy-to-use phone with an awesome 3.2 megapixel camera, this is the one. I love how it will flip horizontally when you turn it while shooting a picture. If you are texting and you want a QWERTY keyboard, just turn it sideways and voila! It also came with this bluetooth earpiece thingy which doesn’t excite me one iota. (“One iota” was one of my Dad’s favorite expressions for a time.) Now, I am not sure where the term bluetooth came from, but the mental image I get is not altogether pleasant. At any rate, times are changing and more and more states require hands-free communication while driving, so I might have to take the risk of looking like the guy from Star Wars (Dave understands) and wearing the dadblamed thing. Well, this post has obviously skewed slightly from its original intent. Point is, I love my new phone and hopefully it will be a reliable one for the next two years.
Yup, I have phone envy. I admit it. Having desired an iphone (which my pc loving hubby would never agree to) I see this as an uber-cool alternative. At least until they launch the BlackBerry Storm, which is what I REALLY want!!! Yup, phone envy. Not even gonna try to cover it up!
Hey! Congratulations from the upwardly mobile Careys! As I’m sure you know, the iphone also flips when you turn it horizontally. The funny thing is that when I’m working out on the elliptical machine, it doesn’t know which way is up. So, if I want to skip a song that’s playing, I can’t find the forward button!! π That really has nothing to do with your post, but it’s a funny point related to the same feature on your phone. Enjoy!
Well, according to Matt Graham and several insider blogs, the iPhone will soon be available on the Verizon network. I guess the company who snubbed Apple’s initial offer is taking a second look βΒ and a serious one at that. Can you exchange it once it comes out? Would you look at the Google phone as an option?
Hey guess who has a blue tooth?? That’s right Denny!!We both got new phones just bigger numbers!
josh i dont want to become a cyborg either!!!
Guy from StarWars… you mean Lobot?
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lobot
Brad – exactly! That guy! I never knew his name or that he had a history, but Wookieepedia took me to school! π
Are you joking? There is such a thing as Wookieepedia!! Is that like the Bible being translated into Klingon?
