Happy St. Patrick’s Day! My yearly photo from the Annual Wearing of the Green Celebration Tour will come in the morning. Forgot my camera’s card at the office!
**Edited** Well this year, because of the economic downturn and the outrageous happenings in the airline industry, what with passengers being held captive on the tarmac for hours at a time with three Pringles and a half a cup of water and all, I decided to forgo my annual trip to Ireland and stay local this year. And where better to go than a little place down the street a few miles called the Home of the Fighting Irish, Notre Dame University. Oh yes, there is Irish pride written all over this place, and if you have ever gone to a football game here, let me tell you… a sea of green is prevalent. I was at a basketball game earlier in the season, and there were even guys running around in full green spandex body suits. It was a beautiful day, and I walked around the campus with a cup of Starbucks hot chocolate. As I approached the golden dome, much to my surprise, I found my friend Adrianna Collins wandering barefoot about the campus, mumbling incoherently about knitting and the price of Chai Tea. She managed to get into my annual photo though, so two thumbs up to her for wearing the green. Her husband Ed, however may not be in approval, as green is the color of a rival high school. Their family tends to bleed maroon and gold. Anyway, I digress. I would encourage anyone who is in the area to check out this place – it’s really beautiful in the spring, and if you want a really awesome day, go to a game in the fall. It’s a rush. Happy St. Pat’s everyone. Click the image above to see the larger image.
Love it! One of these days, we’ll make it to Chicago to see the river turned green.
