Today was the 50% off day at Goodwill, so I thought I would check it out and use my $5 off coupon. While in the Granger Goodwill, I heard the following conversation between a little boy and his dad. He came running up holding a wooden massager in his hand:
Boy: Daddy, Daddy! Look at what I found!
Dad: Oh, Whatcha got there?
Boy: Daddy look! It’s from outer space! I just know it!
Dad: Wow!
Boy: Can I get it please, Daddy?
Dad: (smiling) Sure.
That conversation certainly brought a smile to my face. While I was in the Mishawaka Goodwill, my third of the day and having found nothing yet, I did come across some great deals. I found this great Banana Republic shirt, a pair of tan Levis Silvertabs, an awesome JCrew sweater in my favorite color, and another oxford. I’d imagine all of this would be at least $150 or so retail, and I paid the grand price of… wait for it… $5.70 for all of it. I love a good deal. (Those Duggars ain’t got nothin’ on me, Liz!) Then I went to Old Navy and used my gift card for a pair of cargos that were half off. $10 for those. Now I just need to find some new shoes and I’ll be all set.
I’m pretty sure I own that BR shirt. The one on the left, correct? French cuff?

mom – well you know me… taking after gram pemrick and her bargain hunting prowess. no crazy florida shirts or wild patterned pajamas though 🙂
darci – yes it was $5.70 after the coupon. for $5 i signed up and got twelve $5 off coupons – one for each month. hard to beat that – you make it up after the first time you go! you just have to spend $10 and then you get $5 off. So if you think about spending $5 a month for clothes, i’d say that is a little less than the average person spends on clothes 🙂
dave & brad – they might be… but i don’t know. they have buttons, nothing for a cuff link. and dave, what’s a high collar shirt? you are the resident banana republic expert.
speaking of which, i wonder why they called it banana republic. according to wikipedia, “a banana republic is a pejorative term originally used to refer to a country that is politically unstable, dependent on limited agriculture (e.g. bananas), and ruled by a small, self-elected, wealthy, and corrupt clique.”
