Gosh it has been way to long. The past two weeks have been entirely consumed by work. I have been staying at the office until 1am most days. That is definitely getting old. But some of it is freelance, so I guess I can’t complain since the money is good. You would think that summertime at a college would be slower that the school year, but actually it is the reverse. This is the time of year that we get everything ready for the rest of the year. Anyway, between designing catalogs, college recruitment materials and handbooks, my creativity is getting low.
To my surprise, David Peters walked into my office today. I haven’t seen him since his wedding. He looks about the same as I last saw him. A little older, perhaps, but still about the same Dave as I remember. He has two kids now. It was good to see him, and we did some brief catching up.
I have plans to go to Cornerstone Music Festival July 4-9. That should be pretty cool. The prospect of seeing and hearing so many diverse styles of music and just being with that many people is exciting.
Finally, after years of talking about it, I decided to try waterskiing. Pretty sad that I live on a lake and have never gone. But I went over to my boss’s house on Wednesday and he took me out on the Tige. It’s a fast boat and is made for skiing. Anyway, everyone told me all the stuff to do, so when I got out there and got the skis on, and was all curled into a fetalesque position, I really thought I would just go headfirst into the water. But to my surprise, when he took off, I just stood up and stayed up for a little bit! believe me, I never expected it would be that easy. I am sure it was not the most graceful thing to see, but I was glad I actually made it up on the first try. The second time was ever better and I stayed up for quite a while. So hey, I guess I proved to myself that I could actually do something semi-coordinated and athletic. It was a lot of fun, and now that I know I can do it, I hope to get out more often.
Tuesday night (6.12.01) at the Meeting Place was incredible. It was a more quiet semi-acoustic version of the usual style, but gosh… it was awesome. I really felt the sincerity, the passion and worship that night. God was being praised and worshipped and you could sense that in the room. The band rocked as always, but their talent was showcased this night. The fantastic thing to me is to see the amazing talent that God gave these men and women, and how they are using it for Him. It’s encouraging.
Okay — it’s a blast from way back! Ran into your dad tonight and he gave me this as a way to reach you…
So, saying hey.
