Friday 11.29.02
Another beautiful morning. 60 degrees out here! I headed back to the Museum as it was now open and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. They have a wonderful collection of Henri Moore sculptures on the grounds and inside. Nearby was another museum of contemporary art, which was also pretty awesome. What it is about contemporary art that fascinates me, I don�t know. But I love it. Maybe it is the rawness, the crudity of materials, the minimalism � I don�t know.
The Plaza � adjacent to the museum grounds � it�s like an Italianate villa � lots of tiles, towers, fountains, arches� amazing! Every imaginable store you could find in an upscale mall was here, downtown KC, outside� block after block. It was quite fun. I did not have any money to speak of, so I just enjoyed lots of window shopping and enjoying the day. It was very busy as it was Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year.
I then meandered over to the KC Zoo, where I saw elephants and lions and a variety of other animals for the first time in my life. That was cool! I did not have as much time as I would have liked to hang out there as they were closing early. But, there was an I-Max theatre there at the zoo. Holy cow! It was incredible. It was quite new, so it was digital sound, nice seats, etc. The theatre held 560 people and it was sold out. They were showing Star Wars II � Attack of the Clones, so naturally I decided to stay and see this on the big big big screen. It was well worth it. It truly felt as if I were flying through space at some points. After the movie I found some chinese food�mmmm� and then went to IHOP for the rest of the night. I was there until around1 am.
Saturday I got up and left the hotel at 8:05 am. I made it back here in 10 hours and 10 minutes as I pulled into the drive at 6:15 pm.
