Today, Christians all over the world remember Epiphany, (also known as Theophany), a day to celebrate the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. Epiphany comes the Greek and essentially means “to appear or reveal.” Theophany, also Greek in origin, refers to the manifestation of God to humanity.
I was grateful to see the sun appear this afternoon. This is the first visible sunset we have had here in 2021 under the permacloud and it was much appreciated.
I’m grateful that despite the craziness and chaos of this day in our country, the sun broke through the clouds and shined its light across the cornfields, reminding me that in all of this, there’s hope.
The Divine came to earth and became one of us — to walk among us and experience humanity in all of its flaws and finiteness. And on this day, where we remember his baptism in the Jordan, the Christ emerges from that dirty river, clean and pure — a symbol of salvation and the hope of eternity.
May you be blessed this day. Grace and peace my friends.
