Display of Power

Posted on Thursday 28 August 2003 by Joshua

28 hours without power. A big storm hit our area on Tuesday and left thousands without power. It was pretty crazy – the wind was amazing. We all gathered in prayer as the wind roared around the property like an angry dervish. Denny, Corey and Bob stood outside in the midst of it praying protection over the land. At one point a funnel cloud came up to the edge of our property, but Corey just starting rebuking it, and it stopped and then left. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. God again blessed us (three times now) by not allowing one tree to be uprooted or any damage done to the land and house. There are lots of small sticks and branches scattered about, but that is the extent of it.

It was so hot here yesterday. We had limited power from the generator, but no air conditioning. So after helping Dave get a new tire and waiting in Borders for that to be finished, I came back here and fell asleep on the floor of my office as it was just so hot. I woke up and said, “You know, this is dumb, I am going to the lake.” So I did. And it was wonderful. I found Jesse out there and we hung out for a while. He is so funny. He likes to do crazy stuff on my Sea Doo. So yesterday we were experimenting … I was, at one point, dragging him behind me in the water at full speed. The best is when I would cut real hard and he would go flying in the air about 20 feet. Then he would stand on the very back of the boat and I would drive. This would push the bow way up high and get some serious air when we would hit a wave. Anyway, fun times for sure. I am going to miss that kid so much. He leaves for college tomorrow.
