cupholders

It is simply amazing how much cupholders are part of our lives. I have owned quite a few vehicles [mainly imports] and the difference between the cupholders in an import and a domestic automobile is vast. The import cupholder is small and usually placed in an inconvenient spot [Toyota 4Runner are in front of the a/c vents nice for cold drinks, not nice for hot drinks], whereas your typical Ford Explorer can carry one of those jumbo supersize mega mondo drinks and even includes a space for the handle. It is always located in the center, right within easy reach. And the number of cupholders has exponentially increased. I can’t find it at the moment, but I believe at one time the Dodge Caravan had like 15 cupholders. Incredible. All that to say, we Americans place a value on our cupholders.

So, the other day visiting my neighborhood Martins, I notice the new carts. Each cart has a red cupholder, front and center, with a spot for 2 pens and some coupons. This way (since all the new Martins have a Starbucks inside) one can stroll around the store with a steaming cup of brew safely ensconced in a large red cupholder. We sure do love our conveniences!

the cupholder in my truck is in a good spot, but if you look at the carpet of my truck, you can tell that its not very good at keeping the cup in the holder. its more like a cup faller out of thing. every time i go around the corner for church with my coffee, i forget to grab it and it spills.

We sure do… and of course the sad part is that we enjoy them way to much sometimes.
