Continuity is defined as the unbroken, consistent existence or operation of something over a period of time. It is a state of stability and the absence of disruption; a continuous connection with no breaks; an uninterrupted connection, succession, or union.
Every day at the House of Prayer-Michiana, we livestream the House of Prayer in Kansas City which has been 24/7 365 since September of 1999. Talk about the definition of continuity! A unbroken operation and continuous connection every day all day for 21 years… that’s honestly amazing. Every two hours you see a different team rotate in with young singers and musicians and those who lead the room in prayer. Thousands and thousands have gone to that room in Grandview, MO and experienced a sacred place – bathed in prayer and worship, full of those seeking a Divine connection and sense of continuity.

A consistent, steady message and pushing forward in the midst of change is something I think about about when I think about being a part of this ministry for over 20 years. When we started the House of Prayer 18 years ago, I never would have imagined all the ups and downs, conflicts, victories, testimonies, and everything else in between that we would experience as a part of it. Yet here we are, in 2020, still open Monday to Friday from 8am-9pm. We have faithful people who lead teams or do devotionals, who spend hours praying and seeking depth with the Divine, connection with the Spirit. We have people who are drawn here and find themselves encountering significant times of peace, a well of healing, and moments of joy.
Just because something is changing or evolving, doesn’t mean that there is not continuity. I know this sounds like a contradiction, but the existence or operation has not changed, just the pieces and parts around it. People come and go; we move from one place to another; but the structure and message remains continuous. Prayer and worship continues to go upward; encouragement, healing, hope, and love continues to be shared; testimonies of healing, hope, truth, and restoration are given, and this little place at the end of a subdivision road is still doing what it has been doing for 18 years.
So that’s the word for this year. 2020. Continuity. Staying steady, moving forward, and maintaining an unbroken connection and communion with the Divine. That’s my hope.
JP I really like this. I was honestly taken back by the number of years you stated that IHOP-M has been going. My first thought was that you mistyped the number, but no. You guys have faithfully ministered to the LORD and one another for 18 glorious years!
It’s truly a sign and a wonder and I’m so grateful that I have been a small part of it all 🙂
May the fire never go out!
