I was driving down Lincolnway in Osceola the other day and saw a house with the confederate flag flying off the front porch. Later that day I followed a crappy car bearing a confederate sticker in the window. If I had a Hummer, I would be very tempted to ram said confederate flag bearing car off the road. In any event, I don’t have a Hummer, and I guess ramming said crappy car off the road would not be the best idea anyway. That is the amazing thing about America we are allowed differing viewpoints (even if theirs is steeped in ignorance and hatred). So I was reading (still) Al Franken’s “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right” and came across this quote regarding the Confederate flag:
“You know who were the worst traitors in the history of our country? The Confederates. They took up arms against soldiers wearing the uniform of the United States of America. They killed hundreds of thousands of American troops. And for what cause? So they could whip and torture black people. Why would anyone want to put up a flag honoring that?!
