Back in the 80s, Jermaine Stewart did a song called “We Don’t Have to Take Our Clothes Off.” It was pretty cheesy, but basically the point was, the girl is hot for the guy and he says to her, “We don’t have to take our clothes off, to have a good time. We could dance and party all night and drink some cherry wine…” The other day, I hear this song in the store and I thought it was the same one. Obviously, I was wrong as I listened to the lyrics. See the big thing in music these days is to remake 80s songs. Apparently, some of these artists are so hard up for anything remotely original, all they can do is take an old song and redo it… only change a few things about the lyrics and add some cool beats and some rap and they have a hit single. So the Gym Class Heroes decided to do just that. And here in our sexual perverse age, their lyrics now read, “We have to take our clothes off, we have to party all night, and we have to take our clothes off, to have a good time.” Either way, both songs are garbage and not worth the time to listen to, but I still found it very interesting to see the continuing decline of culture… even in small ways such as this.
yes i agree that that song was lame. haven’t heard the new one. even lamer than the song….the video
Ummm, Mase (born again Christian rap artist who worked with p-Diddy lol) redid that song as well…I actually like his version. Come on, at least there is a popular song out there that is trying to say something different…we should support that, even if the music sucks!lol
