Today when I was working in the new IHOP-M, a dragonfly fluttered in. He stuck around for a while, so I grabbed the Nikon and Christie Moore was able to get him to alight on her finger and pose for me.
“In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, and adaptability, … mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life.”
“Across cultures, people believe that the dragonfly has a strong association with light. The body of the dragonfly can reflect and refract white light to create beautiful colors…. They exhibit the phenomenon of iridescence, which means they change colors depending on the angle of light or the angle from which you look at them.”
“In the Japanese culture, the dragonfly was honored as a symbol of joy and new light, and also strength, courage…”
So it was a wonderful symbol of how we are in the midst of change, learning to adapt, how to mature mentally and emotionally, and pursue those deeper truths of life. We seek the light and illumination of Christ as well as His joy and strength!
