Blooming

It’s funny what you find and what you forget you had when you start opening boxes and organizing. Today I hauled a bunch of boxes out of the storage room to my office. We left the Horizon Center almost a year ago now and I still haven’t gone through all my office stuff that has been packed away in a tiny room. I got the essentials but there were plenty of boxes that still needed to be gone through. One of the things about being a ministry is that you tend to hold on to stuff because you might actually need it and because of the historical value or things that were meaningful in years past.

Much to the delight of Samii Stark, I found Rufus, the not-so-naked-mole-rat (Adrianna Collins knitted him a scarf). Boxes of old staff files and applications, various cables and cords, projectors, DVD players, framed photos, rolled up old banners, file boxes of songs, notes, markers… oh yes. Such an exciting list, but good to go through it all and throw heaps of it away, and organize the rest so I know a little better of what we have.

We are getting ready to move the IHOP from a little room in the mall to the larger auditorium where we meet for Sundays and Tuesdays. They’ve been building a wall with large windows reclaimed from an old bank, and entry doors reclaimed from an old mall shop. This way we will just have two spaces to work in rather than three. Streamlining and simplifying is the word! I think it’s going to be a great move and make IHOP much more visible. We have talked so often about being in the marketplace … well we got our wish because we are smack dab in the middle of it!

All that to say, I need to do more organizing because I need to go through the furniture and see what we have that will fit, find the TVs and mounts to hang them, hang signs, and get things looking spiffy. [Which is fun and something I enjoy doing.] We are hoping and praying that this move will be positive in bringing the IHOP to a more visible and central part of not only this ministry, but the Michiana area.

So it’s a season of organizing and moving, and I think that’s a good thing. Change is in the air, the daffodils are blooming, signifying rebirth and new life. I know that even though sometimes things look a little bleak or seems like nothing is happening in the seen realm, what’s going on in the spiritual realm is far far different. God is moving!

“So we fix our eyes NOT on what is seen, but on what is UNSEEN. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” [2Corinthians 4:18]
