Since Wednesday afternoon, over 1,500 miles have been added to the odometer of the BMW. So now it’s much closer to that magic 200,000 mark. It was a brilliant time away for me. My destination was northern Michigan – Mackinac. For some odd reason, it is spelled Mackinac but pronounced Mackinaw. Must be a French thing. It was a 6 hour drive from Osceola, but very scenic and reminded me alot of home. Crossing “Mighty Mac” – the Mackinac Bridge, which links lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula (The “UP”), was awesome. For some reason I was so excited to be driving this 5 mile bridge and seeing the water below me, I was just smiling the whole time. The UP was so rugged and reminded me of Maine.
Mackinac City, which is on the mainland, was where I stayed – at a hotel right on the beach. Looking out and seeing the water shining every morning and sitting out on the balcony every night hearing the waves … peaceful. At any rate, being away for just a few days was so refreshing and invigorating. This is not to say that I am ready to plunge back into the fray, but I’ve had a respite and it should hold me for a time. Dave Carey was so kind as to let me use his camera, and I took many many shots. Hopefully, I will post some of those up here soon.
Josh,
Glad that you were able to get away for a few days, it’s funny being by the water can revigorate the body, mind and spirit so well. I can’t wait for our trip to the Cape this September, it always give me such peace just being near the ocean or heck any body of water. Can’t wait to see the great pics you took on your mini vacation.
