Attitude of Gratitude

Posted on Thursday 24 November 2011Thursday 24 November 2011 by Joshua

Thankfulness. It’s a position. A choice. It’s the expression of appreciation that we feel in our hearts toward another. We may express with a simple thank you; we may bow or incline our heads; we may weep with sincerity; we may jump up and down. The expression may be different but the sentiment is the same – gratitude.  Today is a celebration of thankfulness. It is a day where we remember what we are thankful for. And the food and family and friends are a part of the deal because they are the ones that we experience life with. They are the ones that most of our thanksgiving will involve!

So today, I think back on the many events of this year that have brought me to places of gratitude … and they are many. I am most thankful that my father is with Jesus. The knowledge my father is in a place of joy and rest, with no pain, no aches, and no tears… and is experiencing the amazing presence of the holy God. Wow. The Lord is good, and His mercy endures forever. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

The Lord delights in giving good gifts! This year has been no exception. The testimony of his goodness will continue to be spoken of. There are so many stories that can be told, friends and family who have blessed me, and who have in turn been blessed. All of it says to me… given and it will be given to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over! The joy of giving is awesome. The joy of being thankful is equally awesome.

My hope is to have a true attitude of gratitude in every day of my life. For I have been blessed much. And for that, I am thankful. May the Lord bring you all amazing blessings, and opportunities to be grateful!

Thankfulness as “a position”. This got my attention.

I was writing my own last post, struggling through the tension of maintaining a posture of thanksgiving. Right as I was remembering how I spent a Thanksgiving in a coma 19 years ago, I felt a new word of bad news trying to silence it and distract it.

I appreciate your pure vision on the discipline, and gift, of thanksgiving. Be very blessed..

I am so thankful for each day that the Lord is giving me. Thank you for being a source of encouragement along the way!
