There it lay. In the recycling bin next to me as I sat on the stoop tying my shoes. I rubbed my eyes in disbelief as I read the large headline. It was just an ad for pizza but it held a gross perversion of the English language. No doubt it was the work of some ad agency attempting to be hip and cool to the lingo of today which often includes grammatical errors and deliberate misspellings. Sigh.
Hilarious & annoying!
I took my five year old daughter to Wendy’s recently and all of the drink cups had a statment on them that read something like, “our burgers are square because of our commitment to not cut corners.” The split infinitive really got my attention, so I said to my daughter, “Do you see this egregious violation of English grammar?” Her response was a very definite, “Yes!” She was offended as well, and she hadn’t even started Kindergarten.
David – you have a very smart little girl there!
What’s wrong with this word? I can use it in a sentence. I went to the beach “awesomer” long.
I take a long resigned sigh with you my friend.
What is this language of ours turned into?
A mockery I tell you, a crying shame 🙂
