As promised, here are just a few photos from the trip south.
Beautiful drive through the mountains. I sure do miss them! Dave & Liz live in Fort Mill, SC which is just below Charlotte. They live on the former Heritage USA property, which is now being developed into many subdivisions.
Morningstar Ministries purchased the former Heritage Grand Hotel and 21 story tower and have begun renovating everything. I was not allowed to go to the top of the tower, but it is a pretty cool thing to see this huge building in the middle of a bunch of subdivisions.
Dave & Liz took us to Asheville to see the Biltmore Estate, America’s largest private residence. With 43 bathrooms and thousands of acres of land, the place was spectacular. Naturally, after we spent the day there, we had to come back and watch Richie Rich, which featured the home throughout the movie.
After the Biltmore, we made our way up the road a bit to the Grove Park Inn, an awesome resort in the mountains. I went there a few times in college and have enjoyed coming here from time to time.
We took a little drive down to Greenville, SC to my old alma mater, Bob Jones University. It was great to see the place after 15 years – so much has changed… and so much is the same.
Right outside of Greenville is home to the only BMW museum in North America, next to the only BMW plant in North America. Naturally, we had to stop.
On the way home, we stopped at Robert’s grandparents and drove a longer way home through the amazing mountains of Tennessee. It was an awesome trip and a very nice opportunity to get away and spend time with some very good friends. We were treated like kings and blessed richly by the Careys.
Nice pictures.
Looking at those pictures makes me want to be there…wait, I was there. Well, I wasn’t at the BMW museum for very long. I bailed out and took a nap in the car. What an awesome week we had! Thanks for coming guys and bringing good times and encouragement.
Looks like a great time! 🙂
Glad you had fun!
