A day of reflection and time alone with God has left me in a thoughtful state of mind. When I get a chance to shut everything off and be by myself with God [in my car as it was freezing outside today] I find myself inevitably drawn to water. The lake was very choppy today and watching the seagulls [yeah… in Indiana!] soaring right above the grey waves was so amazing. They would flap their wings, seem to effortlessly hover, then just let the wind take them sideways. It looks so fun. God is truly awesome to create such things. I look around at where I live and realize that I do not stop and appreciate what I have and where I am often enough. It’s way too easy to get caught up in all my thoughts and busyness and I soon forget that I need to stop and spend time with the one who is directing my life [or should be]. So that was what today was…Joshua stopping for a few hours and letting God speak.
This is the word that was given to me as I was reading today. “God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything that the Master has set out for you, well made weapons of the best materials. Put them to use so that you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You are up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon that God has issued so that when it is all over but the shouting, you will still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s word is an indispensible weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Ephesians 6 – The Message
God be with you all my brothers and sisters. Let his love surround you and fill you tonight.
