As I walked into the Auditorium of the Horizon Center today, a guy in my church, Gene, hands me a set of keys with the familiar BMW logo on them. “Hey, there’s a green 840ci out in the parking lot. Why don’t you go take it for a spin.” I blinked a few times and said, “Wow, sure!” Back in the 90s, BMW made some pretty sweet 8 series vehicles. The 850 had the 12 cylinder, and the 840 had the 8. In any event, getting the chance to drive one was a really fun thing for me. It’s not Ferrari or anything, but still, not something I get to drive everyday, and it sure tops my ’95 318i by far. I didn’t get to go very far with it, but I discovered it will move when asked. I guess he is going to sell it at an auction – got a great deal on it and it’s immaculate. Only 77,000 miles. I’d buy it, but honestly… It’s pretty impractical for what I do and I don’t have the money anyway. Still, it’s fun to dream.
