As I was sitting at IHOP-M last night, I realized something. To me, the six best words in the English language would have to be from a very simple children’s song Jesus loves me. This I know. Gosh, that is just so amazing to me. Jesus Christ, creator of the universe, came to this speck of earth in this tiny galaxy and became a limited human being and then [voluntarily] died at the hands of those He came to save. He did that for me. And you. Amazing love, how can it be, that You my King would die for me… Jesus loves me. The very thought fills me with resounding joy that rises up within me. For in the midst of all I say and do throughout my life, in the midst of my weakness and failings, in the midst of my triumphs and victories, Jesus is always there cheering me on, encouraging me, comforting me. He is my Rock and my fortress, upon whom I know I can stand in the day of shaking. He is my covering and my shield against the attacks of the evil one. Jesus loves me. This I know. It’s about faith. Faith in someone I can’t see, but I know exists.
I read a quote today that said that faith is for the lunatics who have a crazy notion that there is something real but not understandable, and not only should it be belived in, but it should be lived by. Yeah, that struck a chord with me. Believing in the unbelievable. Living out that belief because of the knowledge deep within that it is truth. That truth… Jesus loves me. This I know.
